  • Remote learning offers many of the perks of face to face learning while combating its negatives.It allows the learner to study wherever they would like, its versatility can suit different learning styles, and it still allows for discussion and real-time feedback from the instructor and peers.
  • There are a few disadvantages to remote learning, including the fact that it may be difficult for some to stay motivated throughout the course, as it can be easy to feel invisible behind a computer or phone.

App-based: App-based learning is entirely learner-driven. There is no human teacher instructing the course. Rather, the learner is acquiring languages skills independently.

  • App-based learning allows the learner to move completely at their own pace and learn wherever they would like to learn, whether that be from the comfort of their living room or on the commute to work. There is a great advantage to using up to date, responsive technology, particularly compared to its alternative–textbooks. 
  • While learning on the app, it can be easy for the learner to feel isolated and lacking support. Also, because app-based learning is entirely learner-driven, self-discipline becomes more important. Blended: Blended learning is a combination of the remote and app-based approaches.

  • Because a blended approach is tailored to fit a company’s needs, the negatives of this kind of approach should be minimal and will be specific to each unique blend of methods.
